Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026. Effective from launch.

BharatDonate is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

What we collect

When you donate or create an account, we collect the information needed to process your donation and issue your 80G receipt: your name, email address, phone number, and PAN (for donations above ₹2,000 as required by law). We also collect payment information, which is processed entirely by Razorpay — we never store your card details or bank credentials. When you browse BharatDonate, we collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) for security and analytics purposes.

How we use it

Your information is used to: • Process your donations and transfer funds to the selected NGO • Issue your 80G tax deduction certificate • Send you donation receipts and transaction confirmations • Notify you of field updates from NGOs you've donated to (you can opt out) • Comply with Indian tax and financial regulations We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Sharing with NGOs

When you make a donation, we share your name and donation amount with the receiving NGO so they can issue an acknowledgment and maintain their donor records as required by law. We share the minimum information necessary — we do not share your email, phone number, or PAN with NGOs unless you explicitly consent.

Data security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Payment processing is handled by Razorpay, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We store minimal personal data and follow industry-standard security practices. We retain your donation records for 7 years as required by Indian accounting standards. Account information is retained for as long as your account is active.

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing privacy@bharatdonate.org. We will respond within 30 days. Note: We cannot delete donation records that are required by law (for tax and audit purposes), but we can restrict how they are used.

Cookies

We use session cookies to keep you logged in and functional cookies for our payment flow. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, but this may prevent you from completing a donation.
